The Sudbury Trust

Sudbury homeowners support their community in many ways. Sudbury residents pay local taxes and volunteer their time for community government and activities. The Town of Sudbury has launched a giving program, The Sudbury Trust, to provide a path of support for the charitably minded interested in providing financial support to town programs. Some residents will lead a Scout troop or coach ball. Others may prefer to make a donation for a town sculpture or a memorial tree. The Sudbury Trust will accept donations marked for specific projects, programs, and service areas. The Trust accepts memorial donations that might be designated for a tree or a bench. An endowment for new recreational, educational, or cultural programs is also accepted. Now, Sudbury residents have a clear way to contribute to special town projects.

Sudbury Housing Trends

Recent trends in the Sudbury housing market indicate a stronger market. Compared to last year, Sudbury homes for sale were sold at a higher median sales price, $637,500. This price is $35,000 or 5.8% higher than last year. Correspondingly, the average price per square foot increased over 5% to $260. An additional sign of strength is the 4.2% increase in number of Sudbury homes sold compared to last year.

Although the overall uptick in median sales price was 5.8%, the change varies considerably based on house size and number of bedrooms. Three bedroom Sudbury homes actually sold for a lower median price compared to last year, but the strong gains in two bedroom homes (16.2%) and four bedroom homes (8.7%) balanced the end number.

There are currently 149 Sudbury homes for sale. A 694 sq. ft. one bedroom home is available for $175,000. At the other end of the spectrum, a 5,550 sq. ft. six bedroom, four bath home on almost 11 acres is available for $4.5 million.

Pet Lovers Support Sudbury Shelter

For fifty years, the Sudbury community has been a better place for the efforts of Buddy Dog Humane Society. Currently housing 40 dogs and 40 cats at a time, this shelter began with five strays and a wish to give dogs a better chance at family life. Since 1961, Buddy Dog has placed more than 75,000 dogs and cats into loving homes. Helping a Sudbury family no longer able to care for a pet, or a family ready to expand and welcome a new addition, Buddy Dog has been an integral part of the caring Sudbury community. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, support Buddy Dog Humane Society when it holds Woofstock this fall. MetroWest families and their dogs are welcome to parade in their best tie-dye and enjoy music, food, and demonstrations.
